Scott #56

Eight Cents Violet

Misplaced Entry

Plate Position #3

(Found in top row in a pair, both with blank selvedge.)

Re-entry marks in many letters of CANADA POSTAGE, but especially interesting in the upper left corner ornament, which shows many horizontal lines throughout.

I recently found two more copies of this stamp, proving constancy.

The plate position was determined using Jarrett’s table of photos (page 76), involving the two guide dots between EIGHT & CENTS.

Scott #56

Eight Cents Violet

Re-entry 2

PP Unknown

This is only the second 8¢ Jubilee that I have seen with what seems to be a re-entry. Note all of the markings in ‘NANA’ and ‘POS,’ as well as the centre area of the crown.

Eight Cents Violet

Re-entry 3

PP Unknown, but from left column.

This is the third 8¢ Jubilee that I have found with a re-entry. Note the doubled element in the right side of the crown, as well as the marks in the upper margin.

Earl Noss has just reported a second copy of this re-entry, proving it is constant.

Major Re-entry

Plate Position #5

(Upper right corner of the pane of 50.)

Note the 'blob' in the 'I' shown in Unitrade's Specailized Catalogue of Canadian Stamps and here is NOT a part of the re-entry. That was a splotch of ink that I should have removed from the photo. (I have now removed it from the photos here.)

Plate Position #3

(Under the Imprint)

Re-entry marks in 'P' of POSTAGE and right portait oval to lower right of the crown.

Scott #57

Ten Cents

Plate Position #46

Note doubling of 'CANADA.' This entire stamp has a bluriness to it, but it is not a slip print; all the other stamps around it are sharp.

The details of this re-entry are difficult to see as they are rather faint.

(I'll try to replace these scans soon with better ones.)
